There are many ways to tailor Xembly to your personal workflow and preferences. This article focuses on three high-level, widely requested customizations:

  • Make reminders and Block Times appear as "free" so they don’t block your calendar availability

  • Determine whether your events are displayed as public or private when viewed by other people

  • Adjust the default colors and emojis for all event types

To designate reminders and Block Times as free v. busy:

Web App (desktop)

  1. Click ⚙️ Settings on the left side of the web page

  2. Navigate to the Personalization section

  3. Select free or busy from the drop-down menus to determine whether your reminders and Block Times block your calendar

Web App (mobile)

  1. Open a browser and visit web.xembly.com

  2. Click the three horizontal lines on the top right of the screen

  3. Click ⚙️ Settings

  4. Expand the Personalization section

  5. Select free or busy from the drop-down menus to determine whether your reminders and Block Times block your calendar

Extension

  1. Open the Xembly Extension, which can be accessed through Google Calendar

  2. Navigate to your Settings by clicking on the gear icon ⚙️

  3. Click on Personalization

  4. Select busy or free from the drop-down menu to determine whether your reminders and Block Times block your calendar

To designate events as public v. private:

Web App (desktop)

  1. Click ⚙️ Settings on the left side of the web page

  2. Navigate to the Personalization section

  3. Select public or private from the drop-down menus to adjust your event’s visibility

Web App (mobile)

  1. Open a browser and visit web.xembly.com

  2. Click the three horizontal lines on the top right of the screen

  3. Click ⚙️ Settings

  4. Expand the Personalization section

  5. Select public or private from the drop-down menus to adjust your event’s visibility

Extension

  1. Open the Xembly Extension, which can be accessed through Google Calendar

  2. Navigate to your Settings by clicking on the gear icon ⚙️

GCal Info: When your calendar is viewed by other people, “private” items will appear with the word “busy” instead of with the event title, and details will be hidden.

To change the default color of events or add emojis to event titles:

Web App (desktop)

  1. Click ⚙️ Settings on the left side of the web page

  2. Navigate to the Personalization section

  3. Select your desired emoji for meetings, reminders, and Block Times from the dropdown menus

Web App (mobile)

  1. Open a browser and visit web.xembly.com

  2. Click the three horizontal lines on the top right of the screen

  3. Click ⚙️ Settings

  4. Expand the Personalization section

  5. Select your desired emoji for meetings, reminders, and Block Times from the dropdown menus

Extension

Heads up: It is currently only possible to adjust your default event color in the Xembly Extension. This customization applies to GCal events — event colors in the Web App calendar can't be modified.
