/xena and @Xena can both be used to start a request with Xena. However, they have different results for the ensuing conversation.

Using /xena

With /xena, you can initiate the request in any DM, group DM, or channel. However, you will be directed to conduct any follow-up conversation to finalize the request in your DM with Xena. Your team or group DM members will not have visibility into your message or Xena’s dialogue until your request has been resolved. Then, they will only be able to see your request and Xena’s final response (and not any intermediary conversation you had with Xena).

For more information on using /xena, see this article on slash commands.

Watch out: You can’t use /xena in threads yet. You have to start a new message each time you use it.

Using @Xena

With @Xena, you can continue the conversation with Xena in whatever channel or group DM you are using (as long as Xena has been added to the channel or group DM), and your team will be able to see the entire dialogue. This command will work in threads, but it cannot be used in 1-1 DMs. Also, remember that you cannot add Xena to an existing group message.

You can read more about how to add Xena to a channel of group DM in this article on how to interact with Xena.
