How to Start, Stop, and Pause Summary for a Meeting

Enable or disable Summary for a meeting in progress in the Xembly Web App, Extension, or in your conferencing chat function.

Anyone with Summary enabled for a meeting (including attendees) can start and stop recording Summary with an easy flip of a switch.

How to turn on Summary for a meeting in progress:

In the Xembly Web App:

  • Go to the Xembly Web App

  • Click on the meeting you'd like to enable Summary for on your calendar view

  • Toggle ON Get Meeting Summary under "Meeting Settings"

  • Click Record

In the Xembly Extension:

  • Click on the meeting you'd like to turn on Summary for in your Google Calendar

  • Toggle ON Get Meeting Summary under "Meeting Settings"

  • Click Record

Pro Tip: Want the Xembly notetaker to come to your meeting automatically? Enable Summary for your meeting beforehand, or turn Summary on by default for all your meetings.


How to turn off Summary for a meeting in progress:

In the Xembly Web App:

There are two ways to turn off Summary for a meeting in progress in the Xembly Web App:

Option 1:

  • Go to the Xembly Web App

  • Click on the meeting you'd like to disable Summary for on your calendar view

  • Click Stop under the Get Meeting Summary toggle

  • Hit Confirm to remove the notetaker

Option 2:

  • Go to the Xembly Web App

  • Click the red "record" button on the bottom left corner of the screen on desktop and the top right on mobile

  • Click Stop

In the Xembly Extension:

  • Click on the meeting you'd like to turn off Summary for in your Google Calendar

  • Click Stop under the Get Meeting Summary toggle

  • Hit Confirm to remove the notetaker from the meeting

Pro Tip: Use this feature to effortlessly capture exactly what you want in your post-meeting Summary by pausing the recording during any moments you don’t want to include.


How to turn off Summary using the chat function:

You can also remove the notetaker from your meetings by using the chat function in Zoom, GMeet, or Microsoft Teams.

Note: "/xena leave" is currently only supported with Microsoft Teams for Enterprise; personal Microsoft Teams accounts do not have this feature.

After the meeting starts, you and your attendees will be notified that the meeting is being recorded in the chat window of the conference system.

To remove the notetaker, any participant can simply type "/xena leave" in the chat. To resume recording, hit the record button in the Xembly Web App or Extension.
